Daily Devotional: …for she said to herself, “If I only touch the hem of His garment,…

“…for she said to herself, ‘If I only touch the hem of His garment, I will be healed’” (Matthew 9:21).

The exercise of faith must always precede healing. God does not grant His blessings randomly or indiscriminately; there is always a purpose and a spiritual condition involved. Whoever desires to receive something from the Lord must be in a state of readiness, with a humble heart willing to trust. There must be an internal movement of the soul, a sincere seeking, and a living desire to draw near to Him. Only when there is this true longing for His presence can divine virtue be released and bring about profound transformations.

God often moves in silence, and this silence can serve as a test for those who seek His help. It is not a silence of indifference, but a silence that reveals the condition of the human heart. Those who are spiritually prepared will perceive the hand of God even when everything seems quiet. They will recognize divine help and respond to it with genuine faith.

The key to this spiritual readiness is obedience. When we choose, with humility, to follow God’s commandments, we are proving to the Lord that we truly need Him and that we are willing to do whatever it takes for His will to be fulfilled in us. From this attitude of surrender and faithfulness arises a strong faith, a faith that not only believes but also moves the heart of God. -Adapted from G. P. Pardington. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.

Pray with me: Dear God, it is true that faith must always precede healing, for You do not grant Your blessings without purpose. I know I need to be ready, with a humble heart willing to trust entirely in You. I want to develop this sincere seeking for Your presence, this living desire to draw near to You, so that Your virtue may work deep transformations in my life.

My Father, today I ask You to help me recognize Your hand, even in the silence. I do not want to be just a passive spectator, but someone who actively seeks You, demonstrating moral and spiritual willingness to receive what You have prepared for me. I acknowledge that I often resist following Your holy and eternal Law. The fault is mine, mine alone. I need You to open my eyes and give me encouragement and courage.

Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You because obedience is the key that prepares me to receive Your blessings. Thank You for teaching us that, by following Your commandments with humility and faithfulness, we prove our need for You and move Your heart. I know that this living and active faith opens doors, brings healing, and leads us to the fullness of Your promises. May my life reflect this total surrender, so that I may experience the power of Your presence in every step I take. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the Balm of Gilead that heals the wounds of life. Your commandments are like gentle melodies that calm my soul and bring peace to my heart. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
