“And it shall be that as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord touch the waters of the Jordan, the waters shall be separated” (Joshua 3:13).
Brave Levites! Who can help but admire them as they carried the Ark into the current, knowing that the waters of the Jordan would only part when their feet touched the water? They did not hesitate, for they trusted in God’s promise. Their faith was not conditional, nor did they wait to see the miracle before acting. They simply obeyed. God always honors the faith of those who are faithful to Him. It is this combination of faith and stubborn obedience that allows us to see the promise and stand firm in it, without looking at difficulties or at the doubts of others.
We can imagine the people watching the scene, some with fear, perhaps murmuring: “They are stepping into the current! The Ark will be swept away!” But that is not what happened. The priests stood firm on dry ground, because God does not fail. He does not abandon those who trust and obey Him. The same principle applies to our spiritual journey: when we take steps of faith with total obedience, God acts. The obstacles that once seemed insurmountable dissipate, and the way opens before us.
Following God with faith and obedience makes us participants in His plans, just as the Levites played a fundamental role in crossing the Jordan. And that is a great honor. Those who seek to obey God with all their heart not only witness miracles but become part of them. -Adapted from Thomas Champness. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.
Pray with me: Dear God, it is true that those who trust in You and obey without hesitation are the ones who experience Your miracles. The Levites did not wait to see the waters part before moving forward; they walked in faith, certain that You would fulfill Your promise. I want to have that same courage, that same unshakable confidence, that is not stopped by circumstances or fear. Teach me to obey without questioning, knowing that You never fail and always honor those who follow You faithfully.
My Father, today I ask You to strengthen my faith so that I may move forward, even when the way seems uncertain. I know that the obstacles before me are not barriers for You, for You are the God who opens the Jordan and makes the impossible happen.
Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You because You never abandon those who obey You with all their heart. Thank You for calling us to be part of Your plans and for allowing us to witness and live Your miracles. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the greatest gift I have ever received, for it guides me. I cannot stop meditating on Your beautiful commandments. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
