Many in the church mistakenly believe that the laws of God that must be obeyed depend on each person’s will and circumstances. They have been taught that God understands each person’s situation and accepts the acts of obedience that the person chooses to do, as long as they are from the heart. This “god” (with a lowercase ”g”) is an invention, a product of the false doctrine of ”unmerited favor,” which everyone loves. What Jesus really taught is that it is the Father who sends us to the Son, and the Father only sends those who follow the laws He gave to the nation He set apart for Himself with an eternal covenant. God observes our obedience and, upon seeing our faithfulness, unites us with Israel and delivers us to Jesus. | “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37)
