“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
By faith, we can believe that everything—small or great—is under the control of God’s holy and loving will. This includes the changes of the seasons, what affects our mind, body, or possessions, whether by the sinful nature of the world or by the actions of man, good or bad. Everything that happens to us, however it comes, we must receive as coming from God. Even if it is due to someone’s negligence, ill will, or anger, it is still God’s will for us, because nothing, not even the smallest thing, escapes His permission. If anything could happen outside of His control, He would not be God.
Knowing this, we need to live in a way that ensures God’s constant care in our lives. And this comes only through steadfast obedience to His Word. There are no shortcuts: the great men and women of the Bible, like David, Esther, and many others, were protected and blessed precisely because they chose to obey the Creator, trusting that He governed every detail of their lives.
So, position yourself today: accept everything as coming from the hands of God and decide to obey His mighty Law. When you live this way, no circumstance can take away your peace, because you know that God is in control. It is through obedience that you ensure His protection and blessings, proving that nothing escapes His sovereign love. Trust in Him and obey—this is the key to a secure life in His hands. -Adapted from E. B. Pusey. Until tomorrow, if the Lord permits.
Pray with me: Dear God, I often find myself questioning the things that happen to me, whether small or great, forgetting that everything is under the control of Your holy and loving will. I confess that, many times, I see the actions of men or the sinful nature of the world as separate from You, but I recognize that nothing escapes Your permission. I want to receive everything as coming from Your hands, trusting that You are sovereign over every detail.
My Father, today I ask You to give me a heart that lives in a way to ensure Your constant care, firm in obedience to Your Word, like David, Esther, and many others who were protected and blessed by choosing to obey You. Teach me not to seek shortcuts, but to trust that You govern every aspect of my life, whether by someone else’s negligence or by Your direct action. I ask that You guide me to accept Your will with faith, knowing that nothing happens outside of Your control, because You are God.
Oh, Most Holy God, I worship and praise You for promising protection and blessings to those who obey Your will, proving that Your sovereignty and love encompass everything, ensuring my safety in Your hands. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the foundation that sustains my trust, a steady light that guides my path. I am literally in love with Your beautiful commandments. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
