Daily Devotional: Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say…

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46).

The most important question anyone can ask is: “What must I do to be saved?” This is the foundation of all spiritual life. Many claim to believe in Jesus, to recognize that He is the Son of God and that He came to save sinners—but this alone is not true faith. Even the demons believe and tremble, yet they remain in rebellion. Truly believing is to follow what Jesus taught, to live as He lived, and to obey the Father just as He obeyed.

Salvation is not a feeling, but a path of obedience to the magnificent Law of God and the splendid commandments of the Father, the same ones that Jesus and His apostles faithfully kept. It is through this obedience that faith becomes alive, and the heart is transformed. God reveals His plans to the obedient and leads to the Son all who walk in His righteous ways.

The Father blesses and sends the obedient to the Son for forgiveness and salvation. If you wish to be saved, do not merely say you believe—live as Jesus lived, fulfill what He taught, and joyfully follow the will of the Father. Adapted from D. L. Moody. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.

Pray with me: Beloved Lord, help me to understand the true meaning of believing in You. May my faith not be just words, but obedience in every step I take.

Give me strength to follow Your ways and courage to practice what Your Son has taught us. May I never settle into an empty faith, but live in constant transformation before Your presence.

Oh, dear Father, I thank You for showing me the way of salvation. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the safe road that leads to eternal life. Your commandments are bright lights that guide my soul to You. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
