“Then the Lord said to Abram: Leave your country, your people and your father’s household, and go to the land I will show you” (Genesis 12:1).

“Then the Lord said to Abram: Leave your country.” This divine command marked the beginning of a journey that would transform not only Abraham’s life, but also the course of history. We do not know exactly how he was sure of God’s will, and speculating about it would be pointless. What matters is that Abraham was absolutely convinced that it was God who was calling him.

Unlike Abraham, we have the Scriptures, where God has already revealed His will in a complete and accessible way. He spoke through the prophets of the Old Testament and through Jesus Himself, making clear what He expects from us. We do not need to wait for special signs to know what God wants, for He has already instructed us to live in obedience to His holy Law. Just as Abraham was blessed because he chose to obey, even when it required sacrifice and renunciation, we too will be blessed when we bow before God, placing His will above our own desires.

Obedience will not always be easy, but it is the path to the greatest blessings. We must also follow Abraham’s example, trusting that as we obey God with humility, we will be led into the fullness of His promises. The true servant does not obey only when he agrees or when it is convenient, but because he recognizes that God’s will is perfect, and that following His commandments is the only way to live fully in His presence. -Adapted from J. Hastings. See you tomorrow, if the Lord allows.

Pray with me: Dear God, it is true that Your will often calls us to leave behind what is familiar to us, just as You did with Abraham. He did not hesitate, for he was certain that it was You who called him. I want to have that same certainty and willingness to obey You, even when it requires renunciation and sacrifice. Help me to trust in Your calling and to follow Your ways without reservation.

My Father, today I ask You to strengthen my heart so that I may obey not only when it is easy or convenient, but always, knowing that You have the best for me. Teach me to place Your will above my desires, recognizing that the greatest treasures are not found in following my own path, but in submitting myself to You.

Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You because You call those who love You to a life of true fellowship and purpose. I know that those who follow You with all their heart find happiness in Your presence. May my life be a testimony of faith and obedience, so that, like Abraham, I may walk in Your ways and see Your promises fulfilled in my life. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law sustains me when everything seems to fall apart. My hope is in Your holy commandments. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
