“In your patience, possess your souls” (Luke 21:19).
Impatience is a subtle thief. When it settles in, it steals from the soul the sense of control, tranquility, and even confidence. We become anxious because we cannot see tomorrow. We want quick answers, immediate solutions, visible signs that everything will work out. But God, in His wisdom, does not reveal the complete script of life to us. He invites us to trust. And there lies the challenge: how can we rest in peace when we do not know what is to come?
The answer is not in knowing the future, but in drawing closer to the Father. True peace does not arise from prediction, but from the presence of God within us. And this presence is not automatic—it manifests when we make a firm decision: to obey. When we choose to live according to God’s will, something extraordinary happens. He draws near to us. And instead of giving us a detailed map of everything that will happen, He gives us spiritual vision. We begin to see with the eyes of faith. We understand the present more clearly and perceive signs of what is to come, because the Spirit of the Lord guides us.
Obedience to the wonderful Law of God produces a stillness that the world does not understand. It is a natural calm, a deep rest. Not because everything is resolved, but because the soul knows it is right with the Creator. This peace cannot be manufactured or taught in books and sermons. It is the direct fruit of a life aligned with the eternal commandments of the Most High. Whoever obeys, rests. Whoever obeys, sees. Whoever obeys, lives. -Adapted from F. Fénelon. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.
Pray with me: Dear God, it is true that I often let impatience take over me. When answers are delayed, when tomorrow seems uncertain, I feel my heart tighten and my mind run without direction. I try to control what I cannot, and that robs me of the peace that only You can offer. Instead of resting in You, I keep searching for signs, explanations, and guarantees, as if knowing the future were what I needed most. But deep down, what my soul desires is something deeper: Your presence.
My Father, today I ask You to teach me to trust, even without understanding. I want to stop chasing after immediate solutions and learn to wait for You with a peaceful heart. Give me courage to joyfully obey Your magnificent commandments, even in silence, even when everything seems still. I want the spiritual vision that only comes when Your Spirit dwells in me. Draw near to me, Lord. Show me the value of a life in total submission to Your will. May my greatest security not be in quick answers, but in Your constant care for Your obedient children.
Oh, Most Holy God, I worship and praise You because Your presence is better than any detailed plan. You are my rest in the midst of waiting. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is like a calm river that runs through my heart, bringing order where there was once confusion. Your commandments are like lights shining in the darkness, showing the next step with clarity and kindness. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
