“I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself” (Genesis 3:10).
Since the fall, humanity has lived far from home—hidden from God, like Adam among the trees of Eden. There was a time when the sound of the divine voice filled man’s heart with joy, and man, in turn, gladdened the heart of the Creator. God had elevated him above all creation and desired to take him even higher, to glories that even the angels do not know. But man chose to disobey, breaking the sacred bond and distancing himself from the One who only wished to bless him.
Even so, the Most High continues to call. The way back is walked through obedience to the Lord’s magnificent commandments. They are the trail that leads back to the lost home, the route that restores broken fellowship. When we stop running and surrender to the divine will, the Father covers us again with His presence, restoring to us the dignity and joy of life by His side.
So, if your heart has been living at a distance, hidden among the “trees” of guilt or pride, listen to the voice of the Lord calling your name. He still wants to walk with you in the cool of the garden and lead you back to the fullness of fellowship that can only be found in Christ. Adapted from D. L. Moody. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows.
Pray with me: Beloved Father, I praise You because even when I hide, Your voice calls me tenderly. I want to return to Your garden and walk with You again.
Lord, teach me to follow Your magnificent commandments, which are the way back to Your presence and to the life I lost through disobedience.
Oh dear God, I thank You because You did not give up on Your creation. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the path that guides me back home. Your commandments are the footprints of light that lead me to fellowship with You. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
