Daily Devotional: “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut…

“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” (Matthew 6:6).

It is in prayer that we feel the living presence of God and behold His glory. When we leave behind the noise of the world and seek the silence of communion, heaven touches our soul. In these moments, the heart is calmed, the Holy Spirit speaks, and we are shaped into the image of the Son. Prayer is the refuge where we find strength and direction for each day.

But true prayer flourishes together with obedience. Whoever desires intimacy with the Creator must follow His powerful Law and His magnificent commandments. The Father does not reveal Himself to the rebellious, but to those who seek to lovingly fulfill all that He has commanded. The words delivered to the prophets and to Jesus remain alive and are the map for a holy life.

Blessing comes when we unite prayer and obedience. This is how the Father blesses and sends the obedient to the Son for forgiveness and salvation. Pray with a heart willing to obey, and the Lord will make His light shine upon your path. Adapted from J. R. Miller. See you tomorrow, if the Lord allows.

Pray with me: Dear Father, in silence I come before You. I turn away from the noise of the world to hear Your voice and feel Your presence. Strengthen me in my struggles and teach me to seek more moments of communion with You.

Lord, help me to understand that to pray is also to obey, and that Your purposes are life and peace. Open my eyes to see the beauty of Your Law and the value of Your commandments.

Oh, beloved God, I thank You for allowing me to feel Your presence in prayer. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is a light for my path. Your commandments are treasures that lead to life. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
