“He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30).
We must love people and desire their salvation, but our love for Christ needs to be greater than anything else. True love for souls is born from the love we have for the Savior—because He loves them and gave His own life for them. Winning souls is not about gaining affection or recognition, but about leading hearts to Jesus. The faithful servant does not seek to be seen, but ensures that Christ is exalted in every word and action.
And this purity of intention flourishes only in the lives of those who obey the magnificent Law of God, the same splendid commandments that Jesus and His disciples faithfully obeyed. Obedience removes pride and vanity, allowing the Holy Spirit to use us as true instruments. When we set aside the “self,” God reveals His plans and accomplishes His work through us, with power and grace.
The Father blesses and sends the obedient to the Son for forgiveness and salvation. Serve the Lord with humility, without seeking honor for yourself, and He will make your service a light that leads many into the presence of the Savior. Adapted from J. R. Miller. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.
Pray with me: Beloved Lord, teach me to serve without seeking recognition. May my heart desire only that Your name be exalted.
Deliver me from pride and hidden intentions that stain Your work. Use me as a pure instrument, so that others may know and love You.
Oh, dear Father, I thank You for teaching me the value of humility in service. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the mirror of Your holiness and love. Your commandments are lights that guide me to serve with purity and truth. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
