“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:13).
There are times when our hearts are so weighed down with pain that all we want to do is pour it out, explain, cry… But when God surrounds us with His presence, something deeper happens. Just as a child forgets the pain when held in their mother’s arms, we too forget the cause of our anguish when we are enveloped by the Father’s tender comfort. He does not necessarily need to change our circumstances—it is enough for Him to be there, filling every part of our being with love and security.
It is in this place of intimacy that we are reminded of the importance of following God’s magnificent ways. When we obey His voice and keep His teachings, we make room for Him to visit us with peace. The Father’s presence does not mingle with rebellion—it is in the obedient heart that He makes His home, bringing refreshment amid our struggles.
Obedience brings us blessings, deliverance, and salvation. If your heart is troubled or wounded today, run into the Father’s arms. Do not cling to the problem—let Him take the place of your pain and fill your soul with the sweetness of His presence. —Adapted from A. B. Simpson. Until tomorrow, if the Lord permits.
Pray with me: Dear Father, how many times I come to You with a heart full of questions, and You answer me with nothing but Your love. You do not need to explain everything—it is enough that You are with me, and I find rest.
Teach me to trust in Your presence more than in the solutions I hope for. May I never trade Your comfort for the haste to fix things my own way. Your presence is enough, and Your love heals.
Oh, beloved Lord, I thank You for surrounding me with Your comfort and reminding me that You are enough. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the embrace that aligns my heart with Your will. Your commandments are gentle as a mother’s comforting touch. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
