“Behold, the soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4).
What Eve did was not merely a slip, but a conscious act of disobedience. By choosing to drink from the forbidden source, she exchanged life for death, opening the doors of sin to all humanity. From that moment on, the world came to know pain, violence, and moral corruption—as in the case of the first child after the fall, who became a murderer. Sin entered this world fully grown, filled with destructive power, and its consequences have spread through every generation.
This story reminds us how serious the commands of the Most High are. God’s magnificent commandments are not arbitrary limits, but protective fences that guard life. When we turn away from them, we reap suffering; when we obey, we find safety and blessing. To obey is to recognize that only the Lord knows what is life and what is death for us.
Thus, look to Eve’s example as a warning. Avoid any path that leads to disobedience and embrace faithfulness to the Lord. Whoever chooses to walk in His ways is preserved from the destructive power of sin and is led to the Son to find forgiveness, restoration, and eternal life. Adapted from D. L. Moody. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.
Pray with me: Holy Father, I recognize that sin brings death and destruction. Deliver me from repeating old mistakes and give me discernment to obey Your will.
Lord, guide me so that I may live according to Your magnificent commandments, guarding my heart against the temptations that lead to the fall.
Oh, dear God, I thank You because, even amid the consequences of sin, You offer life and restoration. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the path of life for my soul. Your commandments are walls of protection that keep me from evil. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
