Daily Devotional: And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because…

“And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight” (1 John 3:22).

True faith teaches us to trust in God and to believe even before we see the results. It is natural to want tangible evidence that our prayers have been answered, but genuine faith does not depend on signs or visible proofs. It relies entirely on the Word of God and His promises. The psalmist expresses this clearly when he says: “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land” (Psalm 27:13). He had not yet received the answer, but his trust in the Lord sustained him and renewed his strength, preventing him from succumbing to discouragement.

However, the psalmist understood something essential: for faith to produce results, it is necessary to be at peace with God. And peace with God is only achieved through obedience to His commandments. Faith and obedience walk together, because believing in God includes following His will and living according to His instructions. When we seek to obey the mighty commandments of the Lord, we make room for Him to work in our lives and confirm His goodness and faithfulness.

This combination of faith and obedience is what leads us to great blessings. Faith keeps us firm and confident, even when circumstances seem challenging. Obedience, in turn, aligns our heart with God’s, creating the conditions for His promises to be fully fulfilled. Thus, when we live by faith, obeying the Lord, we experience the joy of seeing His answers and His goodness manifest powerfully in our lives. -Adapted from Lettie B. Cowman. See you tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.

Pray with me: Dear God, I thank You for teaching me the value of true faith, which trusts in You even before seeing the results. Many times I desire visible signs of Your answers, but I know that genuine faith is based on Your Word and Your unchanging promises. Help me to remain confident, like the psalmist, believing in Your goodness and renewing my strength in You, even in times of waiting.

My Father, I know that for my faith to bear fruit, I need to be at peace with You. Teach me to live in obedience to Your commandments, for I know that faith and obedience walk together. When I align my life with Your will, I make room for You to work and for Your faithfulness to be clearly revealed. Enable me to seek this obedience with sincerity and determination, trusting that You always know what is best.

Oh, Most Holy God, I praise You because the combination of faith and obedience leads us to Your great blessings. Thank You because, by believing in You and living according to Your Word, I can experience the joy of seeing Your promises fulfilled in my life. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is a shelter in stormy days. Your commandments are like the safe path that guides my steps through life’s uncertainties. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
