“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).
“The Lord is my shepherd.” What a powerful truth, my friend! The God of heaven and earth, the Creator who holds the universe as if it were a grain, is your shepherd. He guards and cares for you as a shepherd does for his sheep. If you truly believe this, fear and worry will no longer have a place in your heart. With such a Shepherd, how could anything good be lacking in your life?
But understand: He is not the shepherd of everyone — only of those who belong to His flock. The Lord’s sheep know His voice and follow His orders. Hearing God is not just listening; it is obeying what He has revealed through the prophets and Jesus. Only the obedient receive His constant care.
So, stand firm in this today. Obey the voice of your Shepherd, live according to His Word, and you will see that you shall not want. The Lord guides you, protects you, and supplies you with His eternal love. -Adapted from H. W. Smith. Until tomorrow, if the Lord permits us.
Pray with me: Dear God, today I bow before the powerful truth that You, the Creator who holds the universe as a grain, are my Shepherd, caring for me with a love that drives away all fear and worry from my heart. I confess that sometimes I doubt this care, allowing fear to steal my peace, but now I see that with You as my Shepherd, nothing good will be lacking for me.
My Father, today I ask You to give me attentive ears to know Your voice and a heart willing to obey what You have revealed through the prophets and Jesus, for I know that only the sheep of Your flock receive Your constant care. Teach me that hearing You is not just listening, but following Your Word with fidelity, so that I may be counted among Yours. I ask You to guide me to live according to Your orders, standing firm in Your unfailing love.
Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You for being my Shepherd, promising to guide, protect, and supply with Your eternal love those who obey Your will. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is the voice that calls me. Your beautiful commandments are the path to Your peace. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
