The Law of God: Daily Devotional: “He who is not born of water and the Spirit cannot…

“He who is not born of water and the Spirit cannot enter the Kingdom of God” (John 3:5).

When Jesus speaks of entering the Kingdom of God, He is not referring only to heaven after death, but to the Kingdom coming to earth and the privilege of living it here and now. Many Christians are content with the idea of a future heaven, without realizing that the promise involves a present transformation. Entering the Kingdom means possessing all that God has promised us: His constant presence, His dominion established over our life, and His will being done in us and through us.

Entry into this Kingdom does not occur automatically, nor by mere expectation. It happens through a living and active faith, a faith that is expressed through obedience. God has not called His people to a passive belief, but to an active commitment to His will. He who desires to experience the Kingdom must demonstrate his faith through total submission to the divine will. It is not enough to wait for future blessings; it is necessary to act according to the principles that God has revealed.

The commandments of God carry within them a transformative power. Everyone who chooses to obey finds not only guidance but also spiritual strength and authority. This obedience allows us to enter the Kingdom of God now, experiencing the promises in our present life, and guarantees us entry into eternity. There is no separation between one and the other. He who lives in fidelity to God already begins to enjoy the Kingdom here on earth, with all the blessings it brings, and, in due time, will inherit eternal life. -Adapted from A. Murray. Until tomorrow, if the Lord permits.

Pray with me: Dear God, it is true that Your Kingdom is not just a future promise, but a reality that I can live here and now. I know that entering this Kingdom means allowing Your presence, Your will, and Your dominion to be established in my life. I do not want to be content with just the expectation of heaven, but I desire to experience the fullness of Your presence today, living under Your government and following Your ways with fidelity.

My Father, today I ask You to help me have a living faith, that manifests itself in total obedience to Your will. I know that it is not enough just to believe; it is necessary to act according to the principles You have revealed. I want to demonstrate my faith not only with words, but with my life, choosing to follow Your commandments and live according to Your truth. Give me a submissive heart, ready to walk in Your Kingdom from now on, experiencing Your peace, Your strength, and Your care at every step.

Oh, Most Holy God, I worship and praise You because You have called Your children to a life of fidelity and fullness in You. Thank You because, by obeying You, I can already begin to enjoy the promises of Your Kingdom, knowing that my fidelity today will also lead me to eternal life. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is my faithful beacon that illuminates my steps. Your commandments are like the welcoming shade under the tree of peace in the heat of midday. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
