“Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on high, who humbles himself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?” (Psalm 113:5-6).
Since creation, it has been the Lord’s desire that human beings reflect His image, not only in appearance but in essence. We were created so that the holiness, justice, and goodness of our God would shine intensely within us. The plan was for the divine light to overflow through our understanding, our will, and our affections—and for all this to be visible in our daily conduct as well. Human life, here on earth, was designed to mirror that of the angels, who live to perfectly obey the will of the Father.
This glorious plan can still be lived out by those who submit to the majestic commandments of God. When we turn to the Law that the Father gave to the prophets of the Old Testament and to Jesus, we are transformed by it. This powerful Law purifies our minds, shapes our actions, and reorders our desires. It calls us back to the original purpose: to be vessels that exude divine love, purity, and power in everything we think, feel, and do.
Choose today to live in a manner worthy of the image God placed in you. The Father blesses and sends those who obey the Son for forgiveness and salvation. Do not reject the radiant commandments of the Most High—they are what lead us back to the heavenly plan. Obedience brings us blessings, deliverance, and salvation—and makes us walk like the angels, joyfully doing the perfect will of our God. -Adapted from Johann Arndt. Mold my heart through Your splendid Law. May Your extraordinary commandments fill my thoughts, govern my actions, and illuminate every step of my path.
Oh beloved Lord, I thank You for calling me back to Your original plan. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a pure mirror that reveals Your desire for my life. Your commandments are like notes of a heavenly song that teach me to live like Your angels. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
