“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters” (Psalm 23:1-2).

God never makes a mistake in leading us. Even when the path seems hard and the landscape ahead is frightening, the Shepherd knows exactly where the pastures are that will strengthen us most. Sometimes He leads us into uncomfortable places, where we face resistance or trials. But in His eyes, these places are fertile fields—and there our faith is nourished and our character shaped.

True trust does not demand explanations. Our role is not to understand every why, but to obey the Lord’s guidance, even when the waters around us seem turbulent. God’s wonderful Law shows us that when we faithfully follow the path He points out, even waves of pain can become sources of refreshment. Our security lies in following—with steadfast hearts—the paths revealed by the One who created us.

Obedience brings us blessings, deliverance, and salvation. God knows what every soul needs, and He perfectly leads those who choose to listen to His voice. If you want to grow, be strengthened, and be sent to the Son, accept the place where the Father has put you today—and walk with confidence, feeding on the Lord’s eternal instructions. —Adapted from Hannah Whitall Smith. Pray with me: Faithful Father, even when I do not understand the way, I choose to trust in You. You are the Shepherd who knows every step before I take it, and I know that nothing leads me without a loving purpose. Help me trust You more, even in the face of difficulties.

Teach me to lie down beside the waters You have chosen for me, whether they are calm or turbulent. Help me see with Your eyes and learn to receive everything You have prepared for my growth. May I never doubt Your guidance, but follow with obedience and gratitude.

Oh, beloved God, I thank You for being the perfect Shepherd, who guides me even through dark valleys. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is a green pasture that nourishes my soul. Your commandments are living waters that cleanse and strengthen me. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
