“The Lord will guide you continually, satisfy your soul even in dry places, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring whose waters never fail” (Isaiah 58:11).
Abandon yourself completely to the Lord’s care and guidance, just as a sheep fully trusts its shepherd. Place all your trust in Him, without reservation. Even if today you feel as though you are in a desert—a dry, empty place, without signs of life or hope, whether within you or around you—know that our Shepherd has the power to transform even the most barren soil into green pastures. What appears sterile to our eyes is, in God’s eyes, merely ground ready to flourish under His hand.
You may imagine that there is still a long way to go before you can attain joy, peace, and abundance. But the Lord can make the place where you are today become exactly that: a living garden, full of beauty, purpose, and renewal. He is able to make the desert blossom like a rose, even when everything seems lost. This is the strength of our God—to bring life where there was once only dust and loneliness. And the secret to experiencing this transformation? It is found in obedience to God’s powerful and infallible Law.
That is precisely why the Creator gave us His commandments: so that we might clearly know the path to happiness here on earth. We are neither lost nor disoriented—we have sure direction. God’s Law is like a reliable map in a disordered world. Whoever follows it finds true peace, even in difficult times. And at the end of the journey, this path of obedience leads us to the eternal crown in Christ Jesus, the promised reward for all who live to please the Father. —Adapted from Hannah Whitall Smith. Pray with me: Dear God, I thank You because I can rest fully in Your care. Even when my soul feels as though it is in a desert, without life or hope, You remain my faithful Shepherd. You see beyond my limitations and transform the most barren soil into green pastures. What seems lost to me is, to You, only the beginning of a glorious work.
My Father, today I ask You to help me trust more, obey more firmly, and surrender myself completely to the guidance that comes from You. May I not turn to the right or to the left, but faithfully follow the path You have revealed through Your powerful Law. Teach me to see, even amid aridity, the seeds You have already planted, and give me a heart that waits, trusts, and obeys. I know that, even in the place where I am now, You can make joy, peace, and abundant life blossom.
O Most Holy God, I adore and praise You because You never leave me without direction. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a spring that rises in the midst of the desert, bringing freshness, beauty, and purpose to my weary soul. Your commandments are like safe paths that guide me day after day, until I attain the eternal crown You have prepared for those who love You. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
