Daily Devotional: “Moses approached the thick darkness where God was…”

“Moses approached the thick darkness where God was” (Exodus 20:21).

God continues to keep deep mysteries, hidden from those who rely only on human wisdom. We should not fear those things we do not yet understand. Instead, we should be content to accept the mysteries of God with humility and patience. In due time, He will reveal to us the hidden treasures in the darkness, the glorious riches of His mystery. What today seems like a veil may, in fact, be the manifestation of the divine presence. Mystery is nothing more than the shadow of God’s face, an invitation to draw closer to Him.

When we choose to walk side by side with God, as Enoch and so many others did, we live in obedience to His holy and eternal Law. This obedience gives us security and direction, even when we walk paths that seem dark or incomprehensible. God is faithful and guides those who submit to His will, illuminating each step, even when circumstances are difficult to understand. Walking with God means trusting that He knows what lies beyond what our eyes can see.

If a cloud seems to be settling over your life, do not fear. God is within it. He transforms moments of uncertainty into opportunities for revelation and learning. On the other side of the cloud, there is glory, light, and the confirmation that He was present the whole time. Trust in God and move forward in faith, knowing that He never ceases to guide those who love Him and obey His commandments. The glory of God awaits those who remain steadfast in His way. -Adapted from Lettie B. Cowman. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.

Pray with me: Dear God, I thank You for keeping mysteries that go beyond human understanding, and for using them as an invitation for me to draw closer to You. Even when I do not understand, I want to learn to accept with humility and patience that which has not yet been revealed to me. Help me to trust that, in due time, You will enlighten my understanding and show me the hidden treasures in Your presence.

My Father, teach me to walk with You in obedience to Your holy and eternal Law, as Enoch and so many others who fully trusted in You did. Even when the paths seem dark or confusing, give me the assurance of knowing that You are in control, illuminating each step and guiding me faithfully. I want to live in submission to Your will, trusting that You see what my eyes cannot see.

Oh, Most Holy God, I praise You because even the clouds of uncertainty are filled with Your presence. Thank You for transforming difficult moments into opportunities for revelation and spiritual growth. I trust that, on the other side of the clouds, there is glory and light, and the confirmation that You have always been with me. May my faith and obedience remain firm, so that I may experience the fullness of Your glory and walk in Your way forever. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the reliable bridge that helps me cross dangerous waters. Your commandments are like gentle melodies that calm my soul and bring peace to my heart. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
