“Just as the clay is in the potter’s hands, so are you in My hands, O house of Israel” (Jeremiah 18:6).
The image of the potter and the clay clearly shows how we are before God. The clay is malleable, fragile, and dependent, while the potter’s hand is firm, wise, and full of purpose. Every detail, every movement shapes the clay according to the potter’s vision. So it is with us: fragile and limited, but transformed by the powerful hands of the Creator who knows the end from the beginning.
However, in order for us to be molded according to God’s heart, we need to surrender to His brilliant Law and His extraordinary commandments. They reveal the path the Lord desires us to follow and form in us the character that pleases Him. The Father does not send rebels to the Son, but those who accept being molded by His will, obeying faithfully and perseveringly.
Therefore, surrender yourself to the divine Potter. To obey God’s majestic Law is to allow Him to shape our lives for blessing, deliverance, and salvation. The Father blesses and sends to the Son those who allow themselves to be transformed, and thus we find in Jesus forgiveness and eternal life. Adapted from J.C. Philpot. See you tomorrow, if the Lord allows.
Pray with me: My God, I place myself as clay in Your hands, recognizing that only You have the power to shape my life according to Your purpose. Help me to remain sensitive to Your voice and willing to do Your will.
Beloved Lord, guide me to live in full obedience, following Your brilliant Law and Your splendid commandments. May I not resist Your hand, but allow every detail of my life to be formed by You.
Oh, dear Father, I thank You because You shape my life with love and purpose. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is the perfect mold for the soul. Your commandments are gentle pressures that shape my existence. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
