“Do not rely on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).
Faith does not go hand in hand with trust in human wisdom, whether your own or that of others. This was exactly what brought Eve down: the devil’s first bait was an offer of wisdom. “You will be like gods, knowing good and evil,” he said, and the moment she wanted to know more, she stopped trusting. The same happened with the spies who cost Israel the Promised Land. Instead of believing in God’s promise, they decided to investigate, as if they needed to check whether God was telling the truth. This distrust opened the doors to unbelief, which locked Canaan away from an entire generation. The lesson is clear: relying on human wisdom weakens faith.
God does not want you to dialogue with Him as if you were negotiating the truth. He calls you to trust, to exercise faith, to believe even when you do not understand everything. His commandments are not an invitation to debate; they exist to test your trust and to bless you. When you try to substitute faith with your own logic or the opinions of others, you lose what God has best for you. True faith does not need human proof to stand—it is founded on the Word of God, pure and simple, and leads you to a life of blessings and salvation.
And here is what matters: only those who obey have the faith that saves. God’s commandments are the way to prove that you trust Him, and this trust opens the doors to His promises. It was not the wisdom of the spies that brought victory, but the faith of Joshua and Caleb. So, stop trusting in what you or others think you know. Pray with me: Dear God, I confess that many times I try to investigate or negotiate Your truth, opening doors to unbelief that weakens my trust in You. Today, I recognize that relying on human logic locks away the blessings You have for me, and I ask You to help me believe in Your Word, pure and simple, without letting doubt steal my faith.
My Father, today I ask You to give me a heart that trusts in You fully, without dialoguing as if I could negotiate Your will, but that accepts Your commandments as proof of my faith. Teach me not to substitute faith with my logic or the opinions of others, but to stand firm only in You, knowing that true faith does not need human proof to be sustained. I ask You to guide me to obey Your Word, for I want to live a life of blessings and salvation that comes from trusting You with all my heart.
Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You for promising blessings and salvation to those who obey Your will. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the foundation that sustains my trust, a clear light that guides my path. Your commandments are keys that open the doors to Your promises, a song of faith that echoes in my soul.
