“Didn’t I command you? Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9).

Waiting passively for God is, in fact, a disguised form of unbelief; it means we do not trust Him. We expect Him to do something visible or tangible so that we can place our trust. But God does not act this way, because that is not the basis of the relationship between God and man. This relationship requires that man steps out of himself, just as God stepped out of Himself to make a covenant with us.

We step out of ourselves when we hear God’s voice and obey it exactly as it is, without trying to rationalize or adjust it to our own logic. It is a matter of faith—a pure and simple trust in God, which is one of the rarest things to find. Often, we trust our feelings more than we trust Him. We want concrete proof, something in our hands that confirms His presence, so that we can then say: “Now I believe.” But that is not true faith.

God calls us to look to Him and trust without reservation. “Look to Me and be saved.” True faith does not depend on visible evidence, but on unwavering trust in the Word of God. When we stop demanding signs and simply obey, we find the essence of faith and experience the salvation He promised. Faith is trusting fully, even without seeing, because we know that God is faithful. –Adapted from Oswald Chambers. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.

Pray with me: Dear God, help me to abandon the need for visible proof in order to trust You. Teach me to step out of myself, to hear Your voice and to obey with simple and pure faith, without trying to adjust Your will to my own thoughts. Give me a heart that trusts fully in Your faithfulness, even when I do not see the way ahead.

My Father, today I ask You to strengthen me to place my trust exclusively in Your Word. Deliver me from depending on my feelings or seeking signs to believe in You. May I learn to look to You and find security, knowing that Your promise is true and Your salvation is certain for those who trust in You without reservation.

Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You for always being faithful, even when my faith is weak. Thank You for calling me to a deeper trust, based on Your Word and not on tangible evidence. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is a constant support. I never stop meditating on Your beautiful commandments. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
