“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, as I promised to Moses” (Joshua 1:3).

There is a vast territory of divine promises that remains unexplored and unclaimed, waiting for those who are willing to move forward in obedience and faith. When God said to Joshua, “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I will give you,” He established a powerful principle: the territory of the promise was available, but it would need to be conquered with determination and action. God set the boundaries of the land, but the Israelites only possessed what they measured with their own feet. Unfortunately, they explored only a third of the promised land and, because of this, were limited to what they were willing to reach.

The same happens with us. Our experience with God and the reach of His promises are directly linked to how much we are willing to align ourselves with His will. Many desire great achievements and spiritual leadership, but do not want to submit to obedience to divine commandments. They want the blessings, but reject the commitment that accompanies them. This imbalance limits what we can experience of the fullness of God, for He does not share His glory with those who live in disobedience.

If we truly wish to grow in intimacy with God and conquer the spiritual and physical territory He has promised us, we need to set aside our own desires and focus on what He wants from us. Everything God requires has already been revealed in His Scriptures, and it is by obeying His commandments that we see doors open before us. Anyone who wishes to build a bridge or a ladder to reach God must begin with a sincere look within themselves. We are creatures made in the image of God, and, surprisingly, nothing is closer to us than our own essence, which reflects the Creator. When we search for the Author of our existence, we find God. There is no other foundation, nor any other material that makes up our nature, except that which comes from Him. Our entire existence, from our beginning to our ultimate purpose, belongs entirely to God, for we were created for Him and by Him.

As we reflect on who we are, we realize that our nature is the very image of God, and the destiny for which we were created is to be in full communion with Him. Our greatest good, our true purpose, is in God, who is our supreme and eternal end. This deep and eternal bond between us and our Creator requires from us not only recognition, but also a response of gratitude and total surrender. Recognizing that all we have and are belongs to Him leads us to seek His will with a humble and obedient heart.

This obedience is the key to walking toward the destiny for which we were created: to live eternally with God and with Jesus. “Is this how you repay the Lord, foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?” (Deuteronomy 32:6).

We did not create ourselves, and this reality reminds us that we cannot be sovereign over ourselves. We are God’s property, who formed us, redeemed us, and regenerated us by His mercy. Sometimes, especially in youth or times of prosperity, the idea of being independent, masters of our own choices and lords of our destiny may seem attractive. But this false independence is only an illusion, which fades away over time. We discover that life without dependence on God is unnatural, does not sustain us in times of trial, and does not lead us to our eternal purpose.

As creatures, we have two fundamental duties: gratitude and obedience. Gratitude for having received the gift of life from the hands of the Creator, who loved us and called us into existence. And obedience, because only by following God’s commandments do we find the path to true life and peace. It is not about restriction, but about genuine freedom—freedom that comes from being at the center of God’s will, living as He created us to live, in communion with Him and in submission to His plans.

Obedience is the key that opens the door to the most sublime destiny God has prepared for us: to dwell with Him in eternity, in the heavenly mansion that Jesus promised to prepare. True faith teaches us to trust in God and to believe even before we see the results. It is natural to want tangible evidence that our prayers have been answered, but genuine faith does not depend on signs or visible proofs. It relies entirely on the Word of God and His promises. The psalmist expresses this clearly when he says: “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land” (Psalm 27:13). He had not yet received the answer, but his trust in the Lord sustained him and renewed his strength, preventing him from succumbing to discouragement.

However, the psalmist understood something essential: for faith to produce results, it is necessary to be at peace with God. And peace with God is only achieved through obedience to His commandments. Faith and obedience walk together, because believing in God includes following His will and living according to His instructions. When we seek to obey the mighty commandments of the Lord, we make room for Him to work in our lives and confirm His goodness and faithfulness.

This combination of faith and obedience is what leads us to great blessings. Faith keeps us firm and confident, even when circumstances seem challenging. In the consecrated Christian, the Holy Spirit acts as a constant guide, leading our hearts to a life of communion and prayer. Above all, He is a Spirit of prayer, who transforms even our simplest thoughts into moments of dialogue with God. When we surrender our whole being to His leadership, He fills every moment with His presence and teaches us to bring all things to Him. Thus, even before we act, we pray in the depths of our spirit, allowing the Holy Spirit to direct our actions according to the divine will, and then we see His providence unfold in our lives.

However, for this full communion to happen, faithfulness and obedience to God’s commandments are indispensable. When we stray from obedience, the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit begins to grow silent, becoming less perceptible in our conscience. Persisting in rebellion hardens the heart, and this can lead us to the point where we no longer hear His guidance and comfort. This separation does not occur due to a lack of ability on our part, for God has granted us the ability to obey Him. We are responsible for choosing the path of obedience or resistance.

Today is the day to return to the Lord with an obedient and submissive heart. When we yield to His will, the Holy Spirit is given to us in abundance, and God’s blessings become evident in our lives. Let us not allow negligence and pride to distance us from Him. We need to understand that, before we can be channels of blessing to others, we must allow God’s blessings to transform our own lives. There is no way to give what we have not yet received. Just as a tree needs to be strong and healthy to produce fruit, our soul needs to be filled with God’s love and mercy before it can nourish the souls around us. The love of God the Father and of Jesus is the fire that lights the wick of our love, and only when we are touched by this divine love can we transmit it in a genuine way.

True love, the kind that transforms lives, can only arise from an authentic relationship with God. And this relationship is not based only on words or intentions, but on faith that is expressed in obedience. Believing in God and in Jesus means trusting in them and showing that trust through submission to His perfect Law. It is in believing and obeying that we find the solid foundation to receive heavenly blessings, which enable us to meet the spiritual and material needs of those around us.

When we experience the blessings of faith and obedience, we are called to share what we have received.
