When God freed the people of Israel from Egypt, He did not lead them directly to the promised land, but first to the desert, where He gave them His laws. This shows that, for God, obedience comes before possession. Many in the churches seek God’s blessings, but show no interest in obeying the laws He gave us through His prophets in the Old Testament and through Jesus in the four gospels. These blessings they seek so much will only be received when they show the Lord that they truly love Him, through a life of obedience. This is how the apostles and disciples of Christ lived, and that is why they were blessed. Do not follow the majority , follow only the Lord. | “Today I set before you blessing and curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God; the curse, if you do not obey.” Deut 11:26-28
