When Jesus told Nicodemus that God so loved the world and therefore sent His Son, He was referring to the human race. God had compassion on us, for without His intervention, Satan would keep us enslaved. The sending of the only begotten Son, however, was not to save everyone, for God respects each one’s free will, but to save those who fulfill His two requirements: to believe and to obey. Nicodemus obeyed God’s laws, but did not accept Jesus as the Messiah. Most in churches believe in Jesus, but live in open disobedience to the laws that God gave us through the prophets in the Old Testament. The truth is that we are saved by pleasing the Father and being sent to the Son, and the Father will never send declared disobedient people to Jesus. | “Here is the perseverance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” (Revelation 14:12)
