“The fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out” (Leviticus 6:13)

It is much easier to keep the flame burning than to try to rekindle it after it has gone out. So it is with our spiritual life. God calls us to remain in Him with constancy, feeding the fire with obedience, prayer, and faithfulness. When we tend the altar of our hearts with daily zeal, the presence of the Lord remains alive and active within us, without the need for constant new beginnings.

Forming a habit of devotion takes time and requires effort at first, but when this habit is established upon the magnificent commandments of God, it becomes part of who we are. We begin to follow the Lord’s path with lightness and freedom, for obedience no longer feels like a burden, but a joy. Instead of always returning to the beginning, we are called to move forward, to mature, to advance toward what the Father desires to accomplish in us.

That is why the soul that loves the Father cries out for continual salvation—a daily deliverance from the power and presence of sin.

It is in this cry that obedience to the Lord’s holy commandments becomes not only necessary, but vital. The Father’s grace is manifested as we choose, moment by moment, to walk in faithfulness to His Word. It is not enough to know what is right—we must practice it, resist, and reject the sin that insists on accompanying us. This daily surrender shapes the heart and strengthens it to live according to the will of the Most High.

Those who walk with God learn to see beyond the immediate, beyond themselves. The Lord leads us into spacious places, where His plans are greater than our concerns, and where our minds can align with the greatness of His will.

This applies to our love, to our prayers, and even to our dreams. When we live trapped in a narrow heart, everything becomes small: our words, our actions, our hopes. But when we obey the beautiful commandments of God and open our souls to what He wants to do, our lives expand. We love more, we pray for more people, we desire to see blessings beyond our small circle. God did not create us to live turned inward, but so that we might reflect heaven here on earth.

The Father only reveals His plans to the obedient.
