The expression “unmerited favor” does not exist in Scripture; it is a theological jargon invented after the ascension of Jesus, with the intention of separating the Gentiles from Israel and creating a new religion, with new doctrines and traditions, as well as excluding the need to obey God’s laws for salvation. This concept has no support in the Old Testament nor in the words of Jesus in the Gospels. To claim that human beings cannot contribute to their salvation encourages sin and suggests that God seeks to save the disobedient, which is why many Gentiles cling to this false doctrine. What Jesus really taught is that it is the Father who sends us to the Son, and the Father only sends those who follow the laws given to the nation He set apart for Himself with a perpetual covenant. | The Gentile who joins himself to the Lord, to serve Him, thus becoming His servant… and who holds fast to My covenant, I will also bring to My holy mountain. (Isaiah 56:6-7)
