Many Christians read the Old Testament, are enchanted by the promises of protection and blessings, but ignore the condition that God has always placed before them: obedience to His powerful and eternal Law. They want to reap without sowing, want inheritance without faithfulness, want the Lamb without surrendering to the Father. This will not happen. It is obedience that leads to blessings and forgiveness. Jesus taught obedience to the commandments of the Father to the apostles and disciples and, like them, whether Jews or gentiles, we must keep the Sabbath, circumcision, the forbidden meats, the tzitzits, the beard, and all the other statutes of the Lord to inherit eternal life. Salvation is individual; obey while you are alive. | “If only they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, so that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!” (Deuteronomy 5:29)
