God struck down Achan and his family for one reason only: he knew the Lord’s command to destroy everything in Jericho and yet disobeyed and kept something for himself. This is the heart of many churches: the people know the wonderful commandments of God, but obey only those that suit them. Jews or Gentiles, we can only be sure of salvation if we live as Jesus and His apostles lived, obeying the entire mighty Law of the Most High: the Sabbath, circumcision, forbidden meats, wearing tzitzits, the beard, and all the other statutes of the Lord. The Blood of the Lamb does not cover rebels. Salvation is individual. Do not follow the majority, obey while you are alive. | “Do not add to or take away from the commandments I give you. Simply obey the commandments of the Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 4:2)
