When Jesus said that whoever believes will be saved, He was talking about believing that everything He taught came from the Father, and the Father never taught disobedience. At no time did Jesus say that following the commandments revealed in the Old Testament would prevent anyone from being saved; on the contrary, He lived in total faithfulness to the Law and taught His disciples to do the same. The popular idea that obeying the Law keeps one from salvation did not come from heaven, but from the serpent, whose goal has always been the same: to prevent us Gentiles from obeying God. The Father only sends to the Son those who honor Him through obedience. Salvation is individual. Obey while you are still alive. | Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord! will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 7:21)
