“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again” (Proverbs 24:16)
The truly devout soul is not defined by never falling, but by rising with humility and moving forward in faith. Those who truly love God do not give in to despair when they stumble—instead, they cry out to the Lord with confidence, recognizing His mercy and returning to the path with renewed joy. The obedient heart does not focus on the mistake, but on the good that can still be done, on the will of God that can still be fulfilled.
And it is this sincere love for good, for the beautiful commandments of the Lord, that guides the journey of the faithful servant. He does not live paralyzed by the fear of making mistakes—he would rather risk obeying imperfectly than fold his arms in the face of the possibility of failure. True devotion is active, courageous, and generous. It does not seek merely to avoid evil, but strives to do good with all its heart.
The Father blesses and sends the obedient to the Son for forgiveness and salvation. Therefore, do not be afraid to start over as many times as necessary. God sees the willingness of those who love Him and rewards those who, even though weak, keep trying to please Him with sincerity. -Adapted from Jean Nicolas Grou. See you tomorrow, if the Lord allows.
Pray with me: Merciful Father, how many times I stumble on the way, but Your love lifts me up. Thank You for not rejecting me when I fall, and for always calling me to start again with humility and faith.
Give me courage to continue serving You, even knowing that I am imperfect. May my heart be more willing to obey than to fear failure. Teach me to love what is good with all my strength.
Oh, my beloved God, I thank You for welcoming me tenderly every time I return to You. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is the safe road that guides me even after I fall. Your commandments are like strong hands that lift me up and encourage me to go on. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
