“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” (Psalm 37:5).
Surrendering to God’s will is not merely waiting patiently for something to happen—it is much more than that. It means looking at everything He allows with a heart full of wonder and gratitude. It is not enough to endure difficult days; we must learn to recognize the Lord’s hand in every detail, even when He leads us along unexpected paths. True surrender is not silent and resigned, but full of trust and gratitude, because we know that everything that comes from God first passes through His wisdom and love.
But there is something even deeper in this surrender: accepting with faith and humility the holy instructions God Himself has given us—His magnificent commandments. The central point of our surrender is to accept not only life’s events, but also to live according to God’s powerful Law. When we recognize that this Law is perfect, was given in love through the prophets, and was confirmed by Jesus Himself, no attitude remains for us but reverent obedience. It is at this point that the soul finds true rest—when it decides to obey in everything, and no longer only in part.
God is long-suffering and full of patience, and He kindly waits for the moment when we surrender ourselves completely. But He also has a treasure of blessings reserved for the day when we set aside our pride and humble ourselves before His holy Law. When that day comes, He draws near, pours out grace, renews the soul, and sends us to His Son for forgiveness and salvation. Obedience is the secret. And true obedience begins when we stop arguing with God and begin to say: “Yes, Lord, everything You have commanded is good, and I will follow it.” —Adapted from William Law. Pray with me: Wonderful Father, how liberating it is to know that everything You allow has a purpose. I do not want merely to endure life’s difficulties; I want to receive them with gratitude, knowing that Your loving hand is behind everything. Teach me to trust, rejoice, and worship You even on cloudy days, for I know that You are good and faithful at all times.
Lord, I repent for having so often resisted Your holy instructions for life. I tried to adapt Your will to mine, but now I understand: the path to blessing lies in accepting, with joy and reverence, each of Your magnificent commandments. I want to obey wholeheartedly, humbly, and gladly, for I know that this is the only way to live truly at peace with You.
O Most Holy God, I adore and praise You for guiding all things with wisdom and patience. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a song of justice that echoes in the souls of those who obey You and leads them to true freedom. Your commandments are like heavenly diamonds—pure and unbreakable—that beautify the lives of the faithful. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
