“I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me” (Psalm 13:6).
With a heart truly surrendered to God and filled with His presence, there is no need to seek Him in distant places or extraordinary experiences. It is not necessary to look for Him in the heavens, in the depths of the earth, or in external signs—for He is everywhere, in everything, continually revealing Himself, moment after moment. God is the great reality of the universe, and His presence is manifested in the eternal now—a constant flow that even eternity itself cannot exhaust. Every instant is a new opportunity to encounter Him, to know Him more deeply, and to experience His living and present presence.
But how can we live this reality clearly, without confusion or illusions? The key is simple and profound: aligning ourselves with God through obedience to His holy, eternal, and powerful Law. This is the bridge between the soul and the Creator. Many desire an intimate relationship with God, but ignore His commandments—and this is a fatal deception. It is impossible to walk with God while resisting what He Himself established as an expression of His will. Disobedience closes the eyes of the soul and prevents it from perceiving the Lord’s living presence in daily life.
On the other hand, when the soul has the courage to reject the common inclination—which prefers the easy path of disobedience—and sincerely turns to obey God’s will, everything changes. Spiritual life flourishes. Communion with God becomes tangible, living, and constant. The soul experiences a relationship with the Creator that once seemed distant or impossible. What was dry becomes fertile; what was dark becomes filled with light. Obedience is the secret—not only to pleasing God, but to truly living with Him. —Thomas Cogswell Upham. Pray with me: Dear God, I thank You because You are present everywhere, in every moment, and I do not need to seek You in grand or distant experiences. When my heart is surrendered to You and filled with Your presence, I realize that You are always here, revealing Yourself in a living, constant, and silent way.
My Father, today I ask You to help me live this truth with clarity and faithfulness. May I not fall into the illusion of wanting to be close to You while ignoring Your commandments. Teach me to align my soul with Your holy, eternal, and powerful Law, which is the sure bridge between us. Give me the courage to reject the easy path of disobedience and the strength to choose Your will day after day. May my obedience be sincere, steadfast, and filled with love.
Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You because, when I obey You, everything around me changes. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a river of light flowing through my soul, causing what was dry to blossom and illuminating what was dark. Your commandments are like firm steps leading me into a living, constant, and real relationship with You. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
