Daily Devotional: “The Lord is good to all, and His mercies…

“The Lord is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works” (Psalm 145:9).

God needs nothing, for His nature is to give, to love, and to bless. Everything that flows from Him is born of a pure, generous, and selfless love that extends to all creation. He sustains, cares for, and shows kindness even to those who do not seek Him. Even so, this general goodness should not be confused with approval or with salvation.

The Law given to the prophets of the Old Testament and by Jesus shows that knowing the will of God and choosing not to obey breaks the access to continual blessing. God is good to all, but He does not maintain fellowship, guidance, or salvation with those who consciously resist His commandments. Where there is deliberate disobedience, the blessing does not remain active.

Today is a time to examine the heart honestly. It is not enough to recognize that God is loving; it is necessary to respond to that love with obedience. By aligning life with the Lord’s sublime commandments, the soul comes to live under His direction and constant care. This is the path where life finds meaning, stability, and redemption. Adapted from A. B. Simpson. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.

Pray with me: Lord, I acknowledge that You are good at all times and that everything that comes from You is perfect. I do not want to confuse Your goodness with permission to disobey. I desire to live in alignment with Your will.

Give me reverence so that I do not resist what I already know, strength to obey without reservation, and clarity to correct my ways. Remove from me all false security and teach me to walk in true faithfulness. May my life reflect sincere submission before You.

Oh, beloved Lord, I thank You for Your constant goodness and for Your clear instructions. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a holy fence that protects life and leads to truth. Your commandments are living expressions of Your love that lead to salvation. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
