Daily Devotional: “To whom much has been given, much will be required” (Luke 12:48)

“To whom much has been given, much will be required” (Luke 12:48).

God does not call us merely to try, but to develop what He Himself has placed in our hands. There are dormant capacities, underused gifts, and possibilities that have not yet been awakened within us. The Lord knows everything we can do and even what we can learn to do, if we are willing. Life gains meaning when we understand that we are not only responsible for our intentions, but for the fruit we can produce.

In this understanding, the Creator’s firm commandments point the way to spiritual responsibility. He does not hand out seeds to be kept, but to be cultivated with dedication. Obedience is taking on the commitment to make everything God entrusted bear fruit, knowing that the Father watches and requires faithfulness.

Today, the call is to awaken and act. Do not bury gifts, do not postpone decisions, do not live below what God has granted you. As you walk according to the Lord’s unsurpassable commandments, you transform seeds into harvest and potential into real blessing. This is how the Father honors the responsible and prepares them to be sent to Jesus. Adapted from J. R. Miller. See you tomorrow, if the Lord permits.

Pray with me: Lord, I acknowledge that many times I have left capacities idle and gifts unused. Awaken in me the understanding of the purpose You placed in my life. I want to live consciously and responsibly before You.

Give me strength to act, discipline to learn, and courage to develop all that You entrusted to me. Remove complacency and teach me to obey with daily dedication. May I not waste opportunities nor bury what came from You.

Oh, beloved Lord, I thank You for entrusting gifts and possibilities to my life. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like fertile ground that transforms seeds into an abundant harvest. Your commandments are wise tools that produce fruits of beauty and blessing. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
