“Teach me Your way, Lord, and I will walk in Your truth” (Psalm 86:11).
The living soul cannot bear the thought of spiritual stagnation. Those who truly know God feel the restlessness to move forward, to grow, to deepen their understanding. The faithful servant looks at himself and realizes how little he knows, how shallow his spiritual achievements still are, and how limited his vision can be. He is aware of his past failures, feels the fragility of the present, and recognizes that, by himself, he does not know how to walk into the future.
It is precisely at this point that the call arises to turn to the great Law of God and His precious commandments. The soul that desires to advance understands that there is no progress without faithfulness, and that obedience is the only way to grow securely. God only reveals His plans to the obedient; it is this obedience that opens doors, strengthens steps, and prepares the heart to be sent to the Son in the Father’s timing. Whoever wants to go forward must walk the path that all faithful servants—prophets, apostles, and disciples—have followed.
Therefore, set your heart to live each day in obedience. Move forward not by your own strength, but by the guidance of the Lord’s Law, which never changes. The soul that decides to walk this way not only grows, but finds purpose, clarity, and strength—and the Father will lead it to the Son to inherit the life that never ends. Adapted from J.C. Philpot. Pray with me: Beloved Father, help me to reject all spiritual stagnation and to always seek to move forward toward Your will. May my heart remain sensitive to what You desire to accomplish in me.
My God, strengthen me to walk with humility and faithfulness, recognizing my limitations, but trusting that You guide every step of those who obey Your commandments.
Oh, beloved Lord, I thank You for reminding me that I will only truly advance by following Your Law. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is the firm path for my soul. Your commandments are a sure direction for every step I take. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
