“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom” (James 3:13).
Even the most explosive heart can be transformed into sweetness and meekness by the power of God. Divine mercy has the strength to transform the worst temperaments into lives filled with love, patience, and kindness. But this change requires a decision. We need to be watchful when anger tries to arise and choose to respond with serenity. It is a daily process, but each victory shapes in us the character the Lord desires to see.
And this process is only completed when we decide to obey the magnificent Law of God, the same commandments that Jesus and His apostles faithfully obeyed. It is through obedience to these sublime instructions that the Spirit teaches us to master our impulses and cultivate the virtues of the Kingdom. Obedience perfects us and makes us more like the Son, who was always meek and humble in heart.

Oh, dear Father, I thank You for transforming my temperament. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is the remedy that calms the storms of the soul. Your commandments are sources of peace that renew my heart. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
