“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15).
If our hearts are tied to the riches, worries, and vanities of this world, all our appearance of faith becomes weak, empty—and, often, useless. We may speak as those who pray, appear pious before others, and even remain firm in a public profession of the truth. But if we are filled with the spirit of this world, we will not experience the depth nor the sweetness of communion with the Lord. The divided heart does not feel the weight of the cross nor the glory of the throne.
To know true fellowship with God, it is necessary to turn away from a world that is at war with Him. And this begins with obedience to the Lord’s great Law. The sublime commandments given to the prophets of the Old Testament and to Jesus separate us from the world and draw us closer to God. They purify our intentions, cleanse our eyes, and ignite in us a real desire to please the Father alone. When we live according to this Law, the world loses its luster, and the truth becomes alive and powerful within us.
Break with the spirit of the world. The Father blesses and sends the obedient to the Son for forgiveness and salvation. May the magnificent commandments of the Lord set you free from spiritual coldness. Obedience brings us blessings, deliverance, and salvation—and leads us to genuine communion with the living God. Pray with me: Holy Father, deliver me from the chains of this world. May I not settle for an empty and superficial faith, but seek You with all my heart.
Guide me with Your splendid commandments. May Your glorious Law separate me from the world and draw me closer to You, so that I may experience true fellowship.
Oh, beloved Lord, I thank You because You do not leave me trapped in the emptiness of earthly things. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your mighty Law is like a lamp that drives out the darkness of the world. Your commandments are like cords of love that pull me out of deception. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
