“Lord, you search me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar” (Psalm 139:1-2).
There is no place where we can hide our sins. No mask is effective before the eyes of the One who sees everything. We may deceive people, appear pious, seem upright on the outside — but God knows the heart. He sees what is hidden, what no one else sees. And this should fill us with awe. Because nothing escapes His gaze. But at the same time, there is something deeply comforting in this: the same God who sees the hidden sin also sees the smallest desire to do what is right. He notices that fragile longing for holiness, that timid will to draw near to Him.
It is through this sincere desire, even though still imperfect, that God begins something great. When we hear His call and respond with obedience, something supernatural happens. The powerful Law of God, so rejected by many, begins to work within us with strength and transformation. This Law has a divine energy — it not only demands, it strengthens, consoles, encourages. Obedience does not lead us to burden, it leads us to freedom. The soul that decides to live according to the magnificent commandments of God finds peace, finds purpose, finds God Himself.
Therefore, the question is simple and direct: why delay? Why keep trying to hide, trying to control life your own way? God already sees everything — both the failures and the desire to get it right. So, if He already knows you completely, why not surrender once and for all? Start obeying today. Don’t wait any longer. The peace and happiness you so desperately seek are found in the place you may have avoided: in obedience to the powerful and eternal Law of God. –Adapted from John Jowett. Until tomorrow, if the Lord allows us.
Pray with me: Beloved Father, before Your holiness I acknowledge: there is nowhere to hide. You know every corner of my being, every thought, every intention. This fills me with awe, but also with hope, because I know that You see not only my sins, but also my desire to please You, even when that desire seems small and fragile.
Lord, I ask You: strengthen this desire within me. May it grow and overcome all resistance. May I not only hear Your call to obedience, but may I respond with real actions, with true surrender. Help me to live according to Your powerful Law, to walk firmly in the direction of Your magnificent commandments, because I know that is where peace, joy, and the true meaning of life are found.
Oh, Most Holy God, I adore You and praise You for looking with mercy upon the weakest desire for holiness. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a heavenly wind that sweeps away all lies and establishes truth in the hearts of those who obey You. Your commandments are like eternal pillars, sustaining the soul amid the storms and guiding it with steady light to Your heart. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
