“The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).
The task God has entrusted to each soul is to cultivate spiritual life within oneself, regardless of the surrounding circumstances. Whatever our environment may be, our mission is to transform our personal sphere into a true kingdom of God, allowing the Holy Spirit to have full dominion over our thoughts, feelings, and actions. This commitment must be constant—whether in days of joy or days of sorrow—because the true stability of the soul does not depend on what we feel, but on our connection with the Creator.
The joy or sorrow we carry within us is deeply connected to the quality of our relationship with God. The soul that rejects the Lord’s instructions, delivered through the prophets and through Jesus, will never find true peace. It may even seek happiness in external things, but it will never be complete. It is impossible to find rest while we resist God’s will, for we were created to live in communion and obedience to Him.
On the other hand, when obedience to the powerful Law of God becomes a natural part of our daily lives, something glorious happens: we gain access to the divine throne. And it is from this throne that true peace, deep deliverance, clarity of purpose, and above all, the salvation our souls so deeply long for, flow. Obedience opens the doors of heaven to us, and whoever walks this path never feels lost again—they walk guided by the eternal light of the Father’s love. -Adapted from John Hamilton Thom. Pray with me: Dear God, I thank You for reminding me that the most important task You have entrusted to me is to cultivate a firm and living spiritual life, regardless of what happens around me. You call me to transform my personal sphere into a true kingdom of Yours, allowing Your Holy Spirit to have full dominion over my thoughts, feelings, and actions.
My Father, today I ask You to plant in me a sincere commitment to Your will, so that obedience to Your powerful Law may become a natural part of my daily life. I no longer want to seek joy in external sources or resist Your call. I know that true peace, deliverance, and clarity of purpose flow only from Your throne, and that the only way to remain steadfast is to walk in full communion and obedience to You. Strengthen me, Lord, so that I do not turn to the right or to the left.
Oh, Most Holy God, I adore and praise You because in You I have found the light that guides my path and the truth that sustains my soul. Your beloved Son is my eternal Prince and Savior. Your powerful Law is like a pure fountain that irrigates the inner desert, causing life to spring forth where there was once dryness. Your commandments are like streams of light that lead me, step by step, to the true peace and eternal joy prepared for those who obey You. I pray in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
